The LXDCON’24 Game Jam Winners

September 2, 2024 – Lieke Bremer |

This year’s theme of LXDCON was Let’s Play! Therefore, we couldn’t resist hosting a game jam. Participants only had 4 days to create a game! These are the results.

What is a game jam?

A game jam is a collaborative event where participants create video games within a short, fixed timeframe, often centered around a specific theme. These events encourage creativity, innovation, and rapid prototyping. Everyone can submit a game and it can be in any shape. After submitting, everyone can vote on their favorite based on several parameters.

The theme

As game jam needs a theme. We chose: Closer together. As the conference was hosted virtually, we were curious to see what kind of experience people would create while people are physically apart.

The winners!

As the submissions were done by people from outside of LXDCON as well, we got some great winners:

First place: (voted by everyone, also outside of LXDCON): Duoescape by zombicycle

Second place and the winner of the LXDCON Game Jam: Closer Together by Stephanie Hart

Third place: Faraday-Henry by The_Yures and SrPinwino

Honorable mention by an LXDCON participant: Call Sign by Tom Cruz

Check out all the submission and the results on itch.io

All the submissions show that you can create a game in just a couple days. We had participants stating they had never even thought about creating a game. For example, Stephanie (second place) had never used Articulate Storyline for this purpose! We hope you play some of the games and see you at LXDCON next year!
