We All Deserve Experiences Worth Remembering
Think about your best moments traveling, dining out, visiting a museum, or shopping. What made them stand out? A surprising event. An attention to detail. A sense that someone cared about how you felt.
As tourists, guests, visitors, and customers, we've come to expect excellence from the experiences we invest our time and money in.
Now Bring That Expectation to Learning
Today's learners aren't any different. They want learning that's memorable, intentional, and tailored to their needs. Generic solutions rarely cut it anymore—what's needed is creativity, empathy, and authenticity.
Learning isn't just about transferring knowledge or building skills. It's about personal transformation—the experiences that shape who we become.

That's Where Learning Experience Design (LXD) Comes In
LXD bridges the gap between the fields of design and learning. It brings the designer's perspective, skills, methods, talents and tools into the world of learning. Offering a holistic view and creative approach on how to shape the experiences we learn from. It brings a fresh perspective on how to creating unique, human-centered learning journeys that genuinely improve the lives of learners.
Why Now?
The LXD market is exploding. Schools and companies alike are searching for innovative ways to attract, retain, and develop talent. Students and employees are responding—they value learning opportunities crafted specifically for them.

During this masterclass you will:
- Gain a deep understanding of what learning experience design is, how it works, and why it matters to you and your learners.
- Discover how a different perspective enables you to find new opportunities to shape the way we learn.
- Use the Learning Experience Canvas to design a learning experience.
- Work on collaborative assignments designed to apply your newly acquired knowledge.
- Challenge yourself and boost your design skills.
- Get a signed copy of Niels' book "This is learning experience design."

Is this for you?
This masterclass attracts professionals (and students) from the fields of learning (education, L&D, instructional design, neuro science) and design (user experience design, graphic design, game design, LXD). Having a mix of people, with different levels of experience and varied backgrounds offers a great opportunity to learn from and with each other. It underlines the interdisciplinary nature of LXD where several design- and learning discplines come together.
This masterclass is ideal if:
- You are a learning professional who’s looking for a new and refreshing way to engage learners.
- You are a creative professional who wants to use their design skills in the field of learning.
- You believe learning can or should be done better and you want to know how to achieve that.
- You are passionate about providing people with meaningful learning experiences.
- You aspire to be a learning experience designer.

Our approach
At LXD.org we practice what we preach. This masterclass is designed with you in mind. Over the years we’ve supported and gotten to know the international LXD community and we use these insights to provide you with a personal and valuable learning experience.
Learning is preferably a social activity which is why collaboration is a vital part of this masterclass. Together we will share our perspectives and expertise to learn both from and with each other. The structure of this masterclass is created to cover all building blocks of LXD while leaving enough space to welcome any questions or precious unexpected moments.
Training is part of our mission to spread LXD across the globe as we’ve seen how great learning experiences have a positive impact on learners and the world around them. It is one of many initiatives that we’ve initiated to support this mission. For more about our work please visit LXD.org.
