Past
Learning experience design (LXD) is a young design discipline that's been around since 2007. In seventeen years, a lot has happened. From a concept that was unknown and misunderstood, to a globally applied field, there are valuable lessons to be learned from the past. When you think about it, the core principles of LXD are timeless. Let's examine these principles that work just as well today as they did eons ago.
Present
Today, LXD is growing and maturing as a field. We've come a long way with its global development, application and acceptance. At the same time, it isn't always clear what's unique and different about LXD when you compare it to other fields. That's why we will focus on the unique characteristics of learning experience design and how they help us shape our learning landscape. Let's boost your LX design skills!
Future
What kind of learning experiences will we design in five, ten or twenty years? While we cannot answer this question definitively, we can explore possible futures. By examining current developments, we can forecast what's possible in years to come. As technology evolves our options to create and deliver learning experiences grow. Let's embrace those opportunities in a creative, empathic and ethical way.
Ten years of LXDCON.
This year we celebrate a decade of learning experience design (LXD) events with LXDCON'25. A milestone moment that causes for a special celebration.
Right now we are preparing for the tenth annual learning experience design conference which will take place in From June 10 to 13 2025. Let's take a look at how we got this far!
Over the past ten years we have organised LXD conferences in Europe, Asia and South America. Our goal is, and has always been, to facilitate meaningful interaction between members of the LXD community and offer an unforgettable experience.
With both in-person and online events we've reached thousands of people across the globe. That's what we wil continue to do today and hopefully for another decade. A huge thank you to all the speakers, volunteers and the participants for making LXDCON special.
How it all started.
In 2016 we organised the first ever LXD conference in the world. At the time, few people knew about this field and even less people understood what it was about. That's the main reason we decided to host an event and see who would show up.
Turnout was better than expected and we sold out all tickets. An exciting mix of educators and designers gathered to explore how to (re)shape the way we learn in a creative and empathic way. We knew we were on to something!
There was a sense of belonging for all who feel that learning can and should be designed differently. That feeling has been at the heart of each event we've organised ever since.
Be a part of the LXD movement!
Meeting up with LXD enthusiasts from all corners of the world is the best part of our events. That personal connection and shared passion of LXD is priceless. That's why we are so excited to offer a hybrid format this year!
Besides our annual conferences, we also host monthly LXD meet-ups for free! It's our way of giving back to the community and offering a moment to connect outside of LXDCON. Be sure to register for one of the upcoming meet-ups.
Thank you for being a part of this incredible community and we hope to welcome you to LXDCON'25!
